Relocating a warehouse can be a significant change for a business. This applies, regardless of the size of the warehouse, or the structures. It is going to involve coordination from your entire staff. If you don’t plan it properly, it can eventually affect your business. Here, we are going to take a look at some of the most important things to be kept in mind while you are relocating your warehouse.
Inventory management:
Inventory management is undoubtedly one of the most important parts of moving your warehouse. If you don’t plan it well, it can result in a lot of expenses later on. Make sure to count the stock before and after the transportation. Also, do expect that some stock may be lost or possibly damaged during the transportation. You will also need to make allowances in the budget and plan for the damage as well as the loss of stock.
Consider mobile shelving options:
If you want the most space-efficient mobile racking and shelving storage options that can help in facilitating a smooth transition, you should consider mobile racking and shelving. Mobile racks are available in light as well as heavy-duty varieties, and they can also support a wide variety of goods, whether they are office supplies or automotive equipment.
Consult current safety standards:
New warehouses can pose a lot of safety issues, such as trip hazards as well as forklift accidents. Therefore, before making the decision to move to a new warehouse, it is important for you to consult OSHA’s current warehouse safety standards, so that you can ensure that your new facility meets them all. If required, your staff might also need to undergo safety training. Safety protocols will need to be implemented for material handling equipment, machines, etc.
